Initiated in 1999, the Center for Cell Analysis and Modeling annually sponsors a summer undergraduate research program that brings undergraduate students with strong backgrounds in the physical sciences, engineering and mathematics into our laboratories for 10 weeks. As an NIH funded National Technology Center for Networks and Pathways, research at CCAM encompasses a range of programs including:

• Biophotonics research to develop optical methods for quantitative measurement of molecular events inside living cells

• Coupling cell biology and biophotonics to develop methods for molecular level manipulation in living cells

• Computational modeling and simulation of cellular physiology using the Virtual Cell software

• Computational biology and bioinformatics efforts in continued development of the Virtual Cell modeling software.

Internships will be awarded at a stipend level of $4000 for 10 weeks from mid June through mid August. Applicants should be finishing their junior year and should submit a letter of application describing their past experience, what kind of research interests them and why they are interested in CCAM. Applicants should also arrange to have their undergraduate transcript, and 2 reference letters sent to:
